How to maintain bearings

To ensure bearings perform optimally and maintain their intended performance over the long term, regular maintenance (regular inspection) is essential. Proper regular inspection is crucial for improving productivity and economic efficiency.
Bearings are coated with an appropriate amount of anti-rust oil and packaged with anti-rust paper at the factory. As long as this packaging remains intact, the bearing's quality is guaranteed. However, for long-term storage, it is advisable to store them on shelves 30cm above the ground in environments with humidity below 65% and temperatures around 20℃. Additionally, storage areas should avoid direct sunlight and contact with cold, damp walls.
If cleaning is required, before disassembling and inspecting the bearing, first document its appearance using photographs or videos. Confirm the amount of remaining lubricant and take a sample before cleaning the bearing:
a. Bearing cleaning is divided into rough cleaning and fine cleaning. A metal mesh rack can be placed at the bottom of the container.
b. During rough cleaning, use a brush or similar tool to remove grease or adhering substances in oil. If the bearing is rotated in oil at this time, be careful as foreign objects may damage the rolling surfaces.
c. During fine cleaning, slowly rotate the bearing in the oil, proceeding carefully. The commonly used cleaning agent is neutral, anhydrous diesel or kerosene; sometimes, a mild alkaline solution is also used as needed. Regardless of the cleaning agent used, it must be filtered frequently to maintain cleanliness. After cleaning, immediately apply rust-preventive oil or grease to the bearing.
