Three methods for identifying bearing failures

Bearings are precision components in mechanical equipment. For factories to improve productivity, the performance of the machinery must be optimal, and bearings are one of the most crucial factors influencing this performance.
Therefore, factories must conduct thorough inspections of the bearings in their machinery during production.
Identifying bearings by sound requires extensive experience. Sufficient training is necessary to distinguish between bearing sounds and non-bearing sounds. This task should ideally be performed by designated personnel. A listening device or stethoscope placed against the bearing housing can clearly reveal the bearing's sound.
Identifying bearings by operating temperature is a comparative method, limited to applications where operating conditions remain relatively stable. Therefore, continuous temperature recording is essential. During malfunctions, the temperature will not only rise but also exhibit irregular fluctuations. This method is best used in conjunction with sound identification.
Identifying bearings by lubricant condition involves sampling and analyzing the lubricant, assessing its level of contamination, and determining if foreign matter or metal powder is present. This method is particularly effective for bearings that cannot be closely inspected or for large bearings.
